Obituary of Shannon Laura Secord
November 28, 1976 – Calgary, Alberta
December 3, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Shannon Laura Secord on Tuesday, December 3, 2024; five days after her 48th birthday, far too young to be taken away from all who loved her.
Shannon was the only child of Sarah and Neil Secord and, unfortunately, was predeceased by her father in 2017.
She is survived by her loving mother Sarah, her beautiful daughter Serena, Auntie Tracy (Steve), and her partner Sean Laurien.
Shannon will also be greatly missed by her brother Sean (Deb) Secord and their family; Ben and Daniel Secord; and her aunts, Eila MacDonald, Margaret, and Mary Ferris.
Shannon was predeceased by her father Neil Secord, her nan Eva Secord, her grandparents, Helene and Elgin (Bud) Ferris; and her four uncles, Brian Ferris, Arthur (Tony) Ferris, Stanley Ferris, and Tom Ferris.
Shannon had a big heart and was a loving, devoted mother and best friend to her daughter Serena. They shared a special bond, enjoying evenings in their pajamas, long walks, and playing with their dog, Lilly, who passed away last year. They had hoped to welcome a new puppy, as they missed their Lilly very much.
Born and raised in Calgary, AB, Shannon was a certified Legal Assistant and Medical Unit Clerk. She loved learning new languages, playing the piano, singing, and coloring her art. She also enjoyed horseback riding at her godparents, Joyce Jewell and Lorne Dreger’s farm.
One of Shannon’s favorite times of the year was Halloween. She loved decorating her house and yard, but her favorite part was the little ones who came trick-or-treating. Her favorite movie genre was horror and shared many movie nights with Serena, watching the latest scary releases.
Shannon spent much of her time with her partner Sean Laurien, whom she deeply loved. They shared a love of movies and music, laughed often, and truly enjoyed one another's company.
A Celebration Of Shannon’s Life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank everyone for their kindness and patience during this difficult time.
Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Shannon’s family here.
