Obituary of Carman Carr

July 8, 1931 – Warkworth, Ontario

December 6, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Carman Carr, beloved husband of the late Fern Arline Carr (nee Gullberg), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the age of 93 years.

Carman was born in Warkworth, ON, on July 8, 1931. He ventured out to Alberta in 1955 where he began his career in the oil industry. He met Fern Gullberg in Edmonton, and they married in 1961 and began their family. His work in the oil patch moved him to many places throughout Alberta and BC, before settling in Calgary in 1976. He ended his long career in the oil industry as a salesman in Calgary at the age of 70, when he finally retired.

Carman and Fern found their happy place at their summer home at Carefree Resort. Over the course of 25+ years, they made many friends and shared many wonderful memories. Carman loved his weekends and couldn’t wait until summer approached and it was time to return each year. He truly missed it after he sold the lot in 2019.

Carman is survived by his daughter Carmen Sandra Carr of Calgary, son Stephen Carr of Calgary, daughter Laura Fredrickson (Al), and his granddaughters, Amy and Carly Fredrickson of Red Deer; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Carman was predeceased by his wife Fern Arline Carr (nee Gullberg), parents, George and Laura Carr; sister Ona Carlaw, and his brothers, Lloyd Carr and Lorne Carr.

A Memorial Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
