Obituary of Arthur Eriksen

July 15, 1941 – December 6, 2024

Arthur Eriksen passed away in Grande Prairie, AB, on December 6, 2024, at the age of 83 years.

Art was born in Latvia on July 15, 1941. In his younger years, he immigrated to Canada. His childhood was spent throughout Canada, but he eventually put his roots down in Alberta.

Art enlisted in the Armed Services in 1961 and proudly served until 1981. During this time, he married the love of his life, Nancy Thompson. She followed him to Germany and various postings across Canada.

Together, Art and Nancy welcomed their two children, David in 1970 and Zoey in 1974. After retiring from the Armed Services, he went on to have a fulfilling career with AGT.

After Nancy passed in 1999, Art ventured up to Grande Prairie to be close to his granddaughters who were the light of his life. He was known from that point on to all who met him as “Papa”. He also spent time volunteering for CNIB and the Legion, leaving his footprint wherever he went.

Art will be missed by his son David, daughter Zoey, daughter-in-law Terri Lynn Eriksen, grandchildren, Kathleen (Mat), Katrina, and Kassandra “Leo”; sister Ramona (Gary), sisters-in-law, Robin and Sandy, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was predeceased by his loving wife Nancy, his brothers, Atis and Paul; Deanne and Michael Fenn, and Attila Vilonyay.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery (3219 4 St NW, Calgary, AB).

Forever in our hearts – we will always love you!
