Obituary of Adrienne Beverley Reid
February 22, 1950 – Winnipeg, Manitoba
December 9, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Adrienne Reid, beloved sister and aunt, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the age of 74 years.
Adrienne was the eldest of three children and spent her formative years growing up on the prairies. She completed high school in Winnipeg and at the age of thirty, she moved to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She spent five wonderful years exploring the coastal towns and villages of the Maritimes and had much affection for the Annapolis Valley and Chester, NS. After that, Adrienne moved to Ottawa, where she was employed with the Medical Services Branch of Health Canada. She made life-long friendships while in Ottawa, but her heart belonged back in the West, and she chose Alberta as her forever home.
Her move to Calgary came in 1994 and it was a very positive one, as it coincided with the explosive growth of the city itself. It was in Calgary where she met the love of her life, Peter Reid, whom she married in 1998. After their honeymoon in Victoria, they returned to Calgary to start their lives together.
Adrienne was a volunteer and donor with various organizations during her life, including AIDS Calgary, the Variety Club of Alberta, and Canadian Blood Services. She loved birds and animals and the natural world around her.
Adrienne is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Cheryl Trites of Winnipeg; nephews, Nathan and Christian Trites of Winnipeg; and nephew Matthew Grace of London, UK. She was predeceased by her husband Peter, her parents, Ida and Ernest Trites; her sister Virginia “Ginny” Grace, and her husband's parents, Marguerite and Calvin Reid.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Adrienne’s honor directly to The Calgary Humane Society, 4455 – 110th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2C 2T7, Telephone: (403)205-4455, www.calgaryhumane.ca.
Just raise your glass and toast her on her transition.
