Obituary of Reginald John Barr

Reginald (Reg) Barr of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the age of 78 years.

He is survived by his wife Joan Barr (nee Shawcross), his two children, Kevin and Karen (Shawn); and his four grandchildren, Kian, Georgia, Katie, and Quincy.

Reg was born in Cardston, AB, to Joseph Barr and Pauline Barr (nee Poffenroth). He worked for many years in the Safeway stores and then transitioned to the Safeway Credit Union, where he worked as a loans manager until retirement. He married his loving wife Joan in 1969. Reg, affectionately known as "Papa," was a devoted grandfather. He cherished spending quality time with his grandchildren, whether it was cheering them on at their sporting events or engaging in a fiercely competitive hockey game in the basement. During his summers, Reg was an avid golfer at Redwood Meadows Golf Club. His golf buddies will deeply miss his camaraderie and questionable performance on the green. In his younger years, Reg played for the Beavers baseball team, where he had many memorable moments and made lifelong friends.

A Celebration of Reg’s Life will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
