Obituary of Martin Mayer

Our cherished uncle, Martin Mayer of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the age of 98 years.
Martin was born in Ajkarendek, Hungary, on January 13, 1926, to Anna and Florian Mayer. He arrived in Halifax on March 20, 1927, and later settled in Beiseker, AB. It was here that he took over the family farm, which he ran until retirement in 1992.
Martin was always heavily involved in the Catholic Church in Beiseker, and later in Airdrie, where he became the oldest Knight of Columbus in the Airdrie K of C Council (#8045).
Martin inspired us all to be better, love, and laugh a lot. He had an infectious laugh that could be heard clearly down the halls of his care home.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff of Sunnyside East at Brentwood Intercare.
Martin was predeceased by his wife Lima, and his parents, Anna and Florian Mayer. He is survived by his sister Elsie Heinzlmeir, his nieces, Linda (Bob) and Diane (Paul), and nephews, Larry (Verna) and Dennis (Kelly).
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery (Beiseker, AB) on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
