December 22, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Peter Michael John Ottens of Rocky View County, AB, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the age of 59 years.
He was born on May 30, 1965, to Heike and Gertie (nee VanHalteren) in Lindsay, ON. He is loved and remembered by his wife of 35 years, Kathy (nee Bergshoeff), and his three children, Travis Ottens, Cody Ottens, and Shayla (Shane) Ottens-Byer; his siblings, Tina Ottens-Buys, Sue (Hank) Ufkes, and Steve (Christine) Ottens.
Pete attended Durham Christian High School in Bowmanville, ON, and is also a 1985 graduate of Farm Management at Kemptville College.
Pete embodied the phrase, “What you see is what you get.” Some of his passions were his family, horses, ranch rodeos, black Angus cattle, roping, raisins, applesauce, and whiskey. He lived with intention, integrity, and drive. He always sought to perfect everything he set his sights on, from his horse skills to building his very successful business, The Suck Truck, Septic and Vac Service.
Perhaps instead of a card, you could help us celebrate Pete’s life by bringing along a cherished photo of him (not framed) and writing a brief message or memory on the back. It will be added to the photo memory area at the service.
A Cowboy Courage Service will be held at Airdrie Town and Country Centre (275 Jensen Drive NE) on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Airdrie Town and Country Centre.
