Obituary of Božo Pavić

April 19, 1941 – Rašeljke, Croatia

January 8, 2025 – Calgary, Alberta

Božo Pavić, beloved husband of Iva Pavić (nee Markić) passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the age of 83 years.

Božo was born in the small village of Rašeljke, Croatia, and was the eldest son of his parents, Jure and Matija. He left Croatia in 1960 and briefly lived in Austria before immigrating to Canada in 1961.

Božo met Iva in Calgary, and they married in 1976. Božo was a hard-working and devoted family man to his wife and children, Tomislav and Marija. He loved the Croatian community here and was an active member over the years with the Croatian Church and other Croatian initiatives. He enjoyed socializing with friends and family and always made sure to be a good host to all who entered his home.

Božo is survived by his wife Iva, son Tomislav (Angela), daughter Marija, and his two beautiful grandchildren, Josip and Gabrijela of Calgary, AB.

Božo is also survived by his sister Mara, brother Ilija, along with numerous nieces and nephews, all of Croatia, as well as his in-laws, the Markić families in Calgary and Croatia.

Božo was predeceased by his parents, his brother Frano, his sisters, Jaka, Jaka, and Anica; as well as his nephew Ante.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Our Lady of Marija Bistrica Croatian Catholic Church (14680 Deer Ridge Drive S.E., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Marija Bistrica Croatian Catholic Church (14680 Deer Ridge Drive S.E., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Rockyview Garden of Peace (243208 Garden Rd, Calgary, AB T1X 1G2). Reception to follow at Croatian Canadian Cultural Centre (3010 12 St NE, Calgary, AB T2E 7P7).

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Pavić's service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
