Obituary of Alfred Schweigert

December 27, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

Alfred Schweigert, beloved husband of Rosa (Rose) Schweigert (nee Seliger), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the age of 91 years.

Alfred married Rosa in 1956, beginning their shared life together.

Alfred accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his four daughters and his employment with the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

Alfred enjoyed carpentry, welding, and gardening in his spare time. He also enjoyed endless backyard BBQs with his extended family where he lovingly prepared the biggest, juiciest steaks for all to enjoy, washing that all down with his favourite icy cold beers.

Alfred’s most memorable vacations were his many trips back home to Herrieden, Mexico, Cuba, and Hawaii. Before jetting to the warm Caribbean waters, Alfred had many travel trailers including his motorhome for trips to BC.

Besides his loving wife Rosa, Alfred is survived by his four beautiful daughters and four sons-in-law, Karen (Ross), Linda (Gordon), Susan (Alfred), and Lorine (Shawn). Alfred leaves behind twelve grandchildren, Kristen, Corey, Myles, Kevin, Jared, Christopher, Michael, Jennifer, Kyle, Adam, Jordan, and Jarod. Alfred had many great-grandchildren, Locklyn, Cameron, Liam, Tegan, Mara, Lennox, Brooklyn, and Brynley.

Alfred is also survived by his sister Marianne and brother Joseph.

Alfred was predeceased by his mother Walburga Birkel, and his father Michael Schweigert.
