Obituary of Maria Beatriz "Bea" Anderson (née Menchaca)
September 15, 1955 – Montevideo, Uruguay
January 5, 2025 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Bea Anderson (née Menchaca), who left us on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at the age of 69 years. Bea was a devoted mother to Fernando, a cherished mother-in-law to Larissa, and a proud grandmother (Avo) to Sofia. She was a beloved sister to Laura, Ines, and Martha, and a dear friend to Anna Mann and many others, whose lives she touched with warmth and kindness.
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Bea’s journey led her to Praia Grande, Brazil, where she laid the foundations for her life. Later, she and her son, Fernando, made their home in Regina, SK, where Bea embraced her new life as a proud Canadian citizen. She dedicated herself to her community, generously volunteering her time with the YWCA, contributing to a local bakery for the homeless, and supporting women's initiatives at the Regina Public Library. Bea also found a second home at the Regina Public Library, where she spent many years building lasting connections and friendships that she treasured deeply.
A woman of many passions, Bea was known for her exceptional talent in baking. Her delicious treats brought joy to all who had the pleasure of tasting them. She also enjoyed immersing herself in Nancy Drew mystery games, finding both entertainment and solace in the puzzles they provided. Bea found peace and inspiration in the natural beauty of Banff, where she spent many cherished moments in the mountains.
Bea’s kindness, generosity, and infectious laughter were felt by everyone she encountered. Her unwavering devotion to her family, her community, and the countless lives she touched will forever remain in our hearts. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness which will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Our hearts are heavy, but we find comfort in knowing Bea's spirit lives on in the love she shared with us. We are profoundly grateful to all those who supported and loved Bea throughout her life.
