Obituary of James Michael O'Reilly

It is with great sadness and much love that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Michael O'Reilly on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Foothills Country Hospice in Okotoks, AB, at the age of 79 years. Jim was born on January 7, 1945, to Joseph and Margaret O'Reilly in Hanna, AB.

Jim was a very special person. He was kind, considerate, and would help anyone at the drop of a hat. He could walk into any place and instantly start talking to someone about anything. He had such a love for animals and loved the outdoors, whether it was riding his motorcycle to the mountains, archery, camping, or just sitting outside with friends and a rum and coke. Even with all these things, Jim’s most special time was when he was with family. He will be truly missed.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Barb, daughter Dana, stepdaughters, Krista and Shauna; stepson Jeremy, three granddaughters, and three grandsons. He is also survived by his brother Pat, and his sisters, Cathy, Betty, and Margo. Jim was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Brian and Joseph.

Many friends and relatives wish to thank all the amazing staff at Foothills Country Hospice for their kindness and care during Jim's stay there, fighting a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. We also thank Dr. Ross Humphrey for his care and ongoing support through Jim’s journey. As well, thank you to our friend Dr. Jim Hansen for his many visits with Jim and his support for our family.

As per Jim’s request, no formal services will be held. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will take place at a later date.
