Obituary of Frank Priolo
May 12, 1951 – Calgary, Alberta
January 6, 2025 – Calgary, Alberta
Francesco ‘Frank’ Priolo passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025, at the age of 73 years. He was born and raised in Calgary, AB, where he grew up with a loving family and built a life that was uniquely his own in every way.
He graduated from SAIT and began his career as an automotive mechanic; later becoming a heavy-duty mechanic. If Frank valued anything more than his loved ones, he valued a hard day’s work! He spent his working career at Asty Concrete and Construction and later worked at Standard General Inc. He had the pleasure of establishing close comradery with his co-workers and, even more so, the opportunity to train and work closely with his son Louis and nephew Luigi for several years. He took a lot of pride in this, but most importantly, he loved having fun with them every day.
Aside from this, Frank was a handyman, a jack of all trades, a husband, father, grandfather (Nonno), son, brother, and an artist. He was an artist in how he approached fixing absolutely anything, in the way he built his home, how he renovated various properties, how he told the best stories, and his greatest art of all, how he could make anybody laugh.
His life’s passion was to work and provide for his family. He also enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, mowing his acreage lawn, starting projects to pass the time in his shop or yard, listening to music, visiting, gardening, coin collecting, and filling his home with love and laughter with his wife Annette Logan (Pettis).
Frank is survived by his children, Gina Priolo, Louis Priolo (Nicole), Andrea Tumato (Pasquale), and Robert Rhodes (Courtney); his grandchildren, Lorenzo and Lucas Priolo, Madeline and Sophia Tumato, and Van and Maren Rhodes; his two sisters, Carmela Potorti and Angela Priolo; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, and cherished cat, Teddy.
He was predeceased by his wife Annette Logan (Pettis), his parents, Luigi and Leona Priolo, his sister Maria Chiarastella (Atillio), and brother-in-law Tony Potorti.
Frank will be missed by all he touched.
A Private Celebration of Frank’s Life will be held for immediate family, however, if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 200, 119 – 14th Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 Telephone: (403) 264-5549, www.heartandstroke.ca.
