Kathleen Lewis

Obituary of Kathleen Mary Lewis

January 9, 1951 – Waterloo, Quebec

January 8, 2025 – Calgary, Alberta

Kathleen Lewis of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the age of 73 years.

Kathleen was the loving daughter of Margaret and Leon Lewis of Waterloo, QC, and was the youngest of four siblings.

Throughout her life, Kathy enjoyed numerous activities with family and friends. From making sandcastles on the beaches in Maine, playing on our skating rink with her siblings—hockey sticks in hand, card nights with Mom and Dad, watching Hockey Night in Canada, bowling with her peers, and coffee and hamburgers at McDonald’s. Throughout her life, Kathy had many rich and meaningful adventures.

Kathleen moved to Calgary with her parents in 1976. As a young adult, Kathleen adjusted well to life in Calgary, where she took part in various community activities, most notably a weekly bowling league.

Eventually, it was time for Kathleen to move away from home, and with the incredible, compassionate support of Adrienne Sabourin and her staff at the Calgary Progressive Lifestyles Foundation, especially Donna Beck, Kathleen took her first steps into a supportive living situation where she thrived, making new friends, and enjoying new experiences.

Kathleen had many special people in her life but none as enduring and special as her supportive roommate Gabi of over ten years. Gabi showered her with love and affection, kept her safe, healthy, accepted, and included her as part of her family. Their relationship was truly one of a kind. Thank you, Gabi.

Our family wishes to thank Fatoumata for giving Kathleen the gift of joy, laughter, and comfort during her stay at AgeCare Midnapore, and a special mention to the staff at AgeCare, Evergreen Neighbourhood, for their care and kindness.

Kathleen is survived by her brother Bob Lewis (Sally) and their sons, Chris and Tim; sister Maureen Nowosad and her daughters, Kristin and Kim; and brother Brian Lewis (Jackie) and their children, son Jason and daughter Shannon; as well as several grandnieces and nephews.

Kathleen was predeceased by her parents and Maureen's husband Andy Nowosad. Thank you, Mom and Dad, for teaching us the virtues of love, acceptance, and service to others.
