Jagdesh (Jack) Sarran of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the age of 59 years.
Jack was born in Georgetown, Guyana, in 1965. He immigrated to Calgary, AB, Canada, in 1984, then to Toronto, ON, in 1985. He returned to Calgary in 2013 and has resided here ever since.
Jack proudly worked for Honest Ed’s and Prodigy Graphic in Toronto and TIW Western in Calgary.
Jack accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of his nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He will be most remembered for his love of Budweiser and the Calgary Flames, as well as his dear dog named after his favourite hockey team, the Flames.
He loved watching documentaries, sports and action movies on TV, and rock music. He did a great dance to Billie Jean along with his brothers at Rudy’s 60 birthday. It was something to watch.
Jack is survived by his two brothers, Rudy (Fazeela) Sarran of Toronto, ON, and Paul (Sandra) Sarran of Berbice, Guyana; his three sisters, Leila Manauf (Jimmy) of Georgetown, Guyana, Savi (Boyie) Ali of Trinidad, and Indra (Terry) DeFreitas of Calgary, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephew, cousins, and friends.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, Flora and Cecil Sarran, and his brothers-in-law, Jimmy Manauf and Boyie Ali.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
At Jack’s request, please wear Calgary Flames attire if you so desire.
Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Jack Sarran’s service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
