Obituary of Edward Charles PAGE

Edward was born in Calgary and lived most of his life here. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the age of 94 years surrounded by family. Edward’s life was influenced by many of the major events of the last century. He endured the depression and served honourably with the Calgary Tanks in WWII from 1939-1945 which later became the King’s Own Calgary Regiment. He was proud to be one of the D-Day Dodgers in the Italian campaign.
After the war he continued his involvement with the Canadian Military as a Warrant Officer and then went on to provide tours at the Calgary War Museums up to age 93. Each year he delivered the Remembrance Day poem at the Museum ceremony. Following the war he trained in the new field of TV electronic technology and continued to provide services well into his 80’s.
Edward will be missed by Leita Page, his wife of over 60 years; his children Brian Page (Barbara Page), Gail Sherwood and Maureen Dwight (Harry Lewington); his grandchildren Michael, Ryan, Alanna and Daniel and great-grandchildren Russell, Ben, Suri and Lincoln.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at The Military Museum, 4520 Crowchild Trail SW, Calgary, AB. The museum is a flower free facility.
