Obituary of William Gerald LOEWEN

January 10, 1930 – Herbert, SK June 5, 2014 – Calgary, AB William Gerald (Gerry) Loewen beloved husband of Glendyne of Calgary passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday, June 5 2014 at the age of 84 years. Gerry was born in Herbert, SK to Bill and Margaret Loewen in 1930. He was raised in the small town of Herschel along with one sister, Eileen (deceased) and four brothers: Lowell, Richard, Donald and Dennis. He completed high school at Luther College followed by two years at Canadian Bible College in Regina. It was here in Regina that he met Glendyne. Gerry continued his education at the University of Saskatchewan, earning a Bachelor of Arts and then a law degree. While in law school, he and Glendyne married and set up their first home in Saskatoon where she nursed while he studied. Upon his graduation, they returned to Regina where he articled under the Attorney General before going into oil and gas law with Imperial Oil. Their three daughters were born during this time: Debbie (Terry Young), Donna (Randy Carter) and Jocelyn (Jason Erhardt). In 1968, they moved to Calgary where Gerry spent most of his career with Dome Petroleum. He became very active in First Alliance Church, serving in many capacities both inside and outside the church. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, two daughters, three sons-in-law, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed by them all. Gerry was predeceased by his eldest daughter Debbie.
