Obituary of Elizabeth Joan LOCK

December 16, 1952 – Pincher Creek, AB May 25, 2014 – Calgary, AB Elizabeth Joan Lock was a loving wife, mother, and friend. Elizabeth was born on December 16, 1952 in Pincher Creek, Alberta. She was fondly known to her family as Joni, and to her many friends as Elizabeth. She dropped out of high school in 1968. Shortly after, she challenged the university entrance exams. She was accepted into honours English at the University of Alberta where she discovered a new passion, art. This was her lifelong career. Art was never far from Elizabeth’s heart, and while working as an executive secretary she began developing her extensive portfolio. After a year as a secretary she used her portfolio to gain admittance into the University of Alberta’s Fine Arts program. She graduated in 1981 with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts. In 1984, she graduated with a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Calgary. During this period of study, she raised her first two children, Gabriel and Courtney. In 1995 her third child, Luci, was born. She continued to pursue her career in fine arts. Elizabeth Lock was predeceased by her parents Bob and Helen Lock. She is survived by her daughter; Lucille Bates, her two sons; Gabriel Dangerfield, and Courtney Marr (Nicole), her grandchildren; Rand and Penny Marr; her loving brothers; Bill (Olga), Doug (Donna), and Graham (Peggy), and her loving sister; Cora. A Celebration of Elizabeth’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
