Obituary of Diane Sydney DUMETT
1934 – 2014
Diane Dumett, beloved wife of Clem Dumett, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the age of 79 years.
Diane was born and raised in Calgary, attending Connaught School and Western Canada High School. She was a wonderful homemaker who always welcomed people into her home, hosting dinners and special holiday celebrations, her favorite being Christmas. She was an active, energetic and dedicated volunteer in the Calgary community, working with the Junior League of Calgary, the Samaritan Club of Calgary, and the Children’s Hospital Aide Society.
Diane was an accomplished golfer, passionate bridge player, art appreciator, skier, fly fisher, world traveller and loved her daily crossword puzzle. She adored the royal family, especially the Queen, never missing the opportunity to enjoy viewing royal celebrations. Diane achieved a lifetime goal of going to university at the age of 50 when she attended U of C to study art history. She pursued this interest further through her extensive travels. Diane enjoyed the outdoors and loved hiking and walking the river paths of Calgary with friends and family.
Diane had a beautiful smile that drew people to her. Her sparkling green eyes warmed hearts and were the window to her soul. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many lifelong friends.
Besides her loving husband Clem, Diane is survived by her children, John Howard and Dani Flowerday, Dani’s husband Bob and their children Max and Sydney.
Diane was predeceased by her adoring mother Mildred Bowden in 1967, and her father Sydney Bowden in 1960.
