Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Betty WILD

February 27, 1938 – Leigh, Lancashire, United Kingdom May 8, 2014 – Calgary, AB Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Wild beloved wife of Colin of Calgary, passed away with Colin by her side on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the age of 76 years. Betty was born in Leigh, Lancashire, United Kingdom on February 27, 1938. She moved to Switzerland in 1968, then back to England a year later. She immigrated to Canada in January 1977, living first in New Brunswick, then Ontario, and finally setting in Calgary, AB in 1981. Betty was a laboratory assistant for United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority. She was of Roman Catholic faith and in her spare time, volunteered for Birthright, Meals on Wheels and the Catholic Women’s League at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. When she wasn’t volunteering, she enjoyed needlework, tapestry and quilting. When she was able to, she loved visiting Hawaii or taking a cruise. Most of all, she loved her family; they were her pride and joy. Besides her loving husband Colin, Betty is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Cynthia and Jonathan and Jennifer; one daughter and son-in-law, Gillian and Michael; four grandchildren, Ian, Mark, Ben and Alison; her brother Vincent; and sister-in-law Vida; as well as numerous friends in Canada, England, South Africa and Australia. She was predeceased by her parents and by her brother John. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W.) on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
