Obituary of Corinne Griffith LOFTHOUSE

November 27, 1929 – Radcliffe, England May 3, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta Corinne Griffith Lofthouse (nee Nicholson), beloved wife of Dick Lofthouse, passed away in Calgary on Saturday, May 3, 2014. She was born on November 27, 1929 in the town of Radcliffe in the northeast of England. The youngest of three daughters born to Mary Alice and Joseph, Corinne grew up in the seaside town of Amble, and knew first-hand life in England during WWII. Corinne immigrated to Canada in 1955, and joined her sister in Calgary. It was at a Scottish country dance event that she met her future husband, and partner for life, Dick Lofthouse. The two were married in 1957, and together raised a family of four children: Derek, Brian, Wendy (Richard) and Ian (Heather). Corinne was a cornerstone of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, heading up the Altar Guild for decades. She also was a volunteer at Parkdale Junior High School, and Queen Elizabeth Senior High School for many years. Corinne greatly enjoyed her grandchildren – Erik, Mary, Victoria (Lofthouse), and Emma (Cole), and was unashamedly responsible for spoiling them with treats, and love. Corinne is survived by her husband Dick, children, grandchildren, sister Margaret Elliott and will be missed by all. May she find peace in God’s arms. Memorial Services will be held at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church (1611 St. Andrew’s Place N.W.) on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
