Obituary of Charles WINGATE

March 11, 1932 – Dumbarton, Scotland April 14, 2014 – Calgary, AB Charles beloved husband of Anne Wingate of Calgary, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 at the age of 82 years. Charles enlisted in Fort George, Britain as a member of the Black Watch Battalion attached to the 1st BN Seaforth Highlands and served in Germany. Charles moved to Canada after the war and he met his wife Anne in Toronto in the 1950’s. He worked at GMC for thirty two years, then as a commissioner for six years before his ill health forced him to retire. Charles was an avid hunter, fisherman, camper and artist. He was a true outdoorsman. Charles was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over fifty five years. He will be deeply missed by all. Charles will be lovingly remembered by his wife Anne; daughter Julie (Clay) Redden and their children, Ashley and Tyler; four sons, Michael, Gary (Lynda) their children Andrew and Scott, Ron and John (Bridget); and two great grandchildren. Charles was predeceased by his parents. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Saturday, April 19, 2014 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queens Park Cemetery.
