Obituary of Ronald James Richard PICKLES

Ron Pickles, beloved husband of Stella, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the age of 81.
Ron was born on January 16th, 1933 in Edmonton. He graduated from Scona High School and served as a pageboy for the Alberta legislature during the Manning years. Ron and Stella were married on August 17, 1957. Together they raised their family while experiencing life in many provinces during his career with Customs and Excise. They settled in Ottawa for 20 years where he eventually retired. Ron took a part time job as a school bus driver getting a fair bit of golf in between shifts before moving back to Alberta to reunite with his immediate family. Ron travelled extensively with Stella and friends and loved camping in their Eurovan until his eyesight prevented further adventures. Ron was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Family always came first for Ron, especially his kids and grandkids.
Ron will be remembered and missed by Stella, his son Kevin (Eliza), and daughter Karen, six exceptional grandchildren (Tina, Austin, Robyn, James, Michelle and Angelina), and his sister, Marj (Peggy) Schurman and her children Jim, Ken, Debbie. He was predeceased by his mom and dad, Vera and James Pickles.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Thomas United Church (100 Hawkwood Blvd. N.W.), on Tuesday, April, 8 2014 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of your choice.
