Obituary of Halim SWAITA
1931 – 2014
Halim (Georges) Swaita was a loving husband, father, and Jido (grandfather), passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2014 at the age of 82 in Calgary, AB. Halim was born in Ain Arab, Lebanon on August 15, 1931 where his love stayed even when he immigrated to Canada, a place he believed would give his family a better life. He took life on and pushed through every challenge that came his way with pride and strength. After the passing of his loving wife, his remaining passion for life was through his children. We will miss his amazing strength and love. Halim was deeply loved and cared for by son and daughter-in-law, Atalla and Julianna, and their children, Elias, Vanessa, Maria and Melissa; son and daughter-in-law, George and Paty, and their daughters, Isabella and Hannah; daughter and son-in-law, Skia and Samer, and their sons, Fadi and Angelo; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Essam, and their children, Chady and Cassandra; son and daughter-in-law Sam and Barbara; daughter and son-in-law Rima and Nasser and their sons, Phillip and Peter. He is also survived by his sister, Sheila (Gary) Benedict of Ottawa, ON; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Halim was predeceased by his loving wife Hanne Swaita, by his loving parents Georges and Skia Swaita; and brothers, Kalim Swaita of Ain Arab, Lebanon and Khalil Swaita of Ottawa, ON and sisters Yvonne Al-Switi and Rose Rizk of Ottawa, ON. We will miss his cheerful smile and love for everyone.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church (402 Meredith Road N.E.) on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Donations in honour of Halim (Georges) Swaita may be made to the Antiochian Orthodox Church of The Annunciation.
