Obituary of Nancy DOTY

February 27, 1932 – Los Angeles, California February 9, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta Nancy Doty passed away at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on February 9, 2014 at the age of 81 years. Nancy was born and raised in Los Angeles, a fourth-generation Californian. She graduated from Immaculate Heart High School and attended the University of Southern California, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree and made lifelong friends as a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. In 1971, she and Lon chose to go on a great adventure, moving their family from Whittier, CA to Alberta where they owned and operated several businesses together, including Sunset Ranch in the Cochrane area, Storm Mountain Lodge in Banff National Park, and Pastels restaurants in Southcentre and Market Mall, Calgary. Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years Leon (Lon) Doty and their children Diane, John, Tim (Caryl), Steve (Debbie), Michael (Jennifer) and Mary Jane; sister-in-law Geraldine Nigg, and brother-in-law John Doty. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren John Jr. (Julia), Denlin (Jud), Simon, Ellen, Andrew, Dylan, Sarah, Ryan, Claire, and Brenden, and great-granddaughters Josephine and Carlen. She was predeceased by her parents Edith and Cyril Nigg and her brother Peter Nigg. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 – 14th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (305 Squirrel St, Banff AB) on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
