Obituary of Joy Edythe BEFUS

December 22, 1929 – Calgary, AB February 11, 2014 – Calgary, AB Joy Edythe Befus passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the age of 84 years. Mom enjoyed her career with the Canadian Red Cross for over 35 years retiring in 1997. Retirement allowed her the time to plan and create her amazing gardens. She would spend hours planting and thoroughly enjoying the beauty of the gardens that surrounded her, sharing the fruits of her labors with her friends and neighbors. She is also remembered for her remarkable artist abilities whether she was painting, sewing, knitting or creating her ceramic projects. We have many fond memories of our Mother teaching us along with other children to figure skate at the Bridgeland Committee Centre and on special occasions performing with her skating partner. When she was not involved with skating she was busy assisting Dad with his coaching of the hockey and baseball teams at the BRCA. Joy is survived by her daughters Pat Befus and Susan Befus and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Albert William Befus. Friends and Family are invited to join us in the celebration of Mom’s life at St. Peter’s Anglican Church (903 – 75th Avenue S.W. on the corner of Elbow Drive and 75th Avenue S.W.) on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through . In lieu of flowers, donations to the Calgary Humane Society (4455 110th Ave. S.E., Calgary, AB T2C 2T7), would be greatly appreciated as this organization was dear to Mom’s heart.
