Obituary of Myrna Viola TURNER

TURNER, Myrna Viola 1940– Calgary, AB 2014- Calgary, AB On February 6th, 2014 our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away after a long and courageous struggle with cancer. Myrna was born at the Holy Cross Hospital on January 23, 1940 to Bill and Winnie Thompson. She was the middle of seven children. She grew up in Midnapore, Alberta and went to school at Father Lacombe and Western Canada High School. Before she married, Myrna worked at AGT as a telephone operator. After having her children she was able to be a stay at home mom until they were grown. She loved to swim and that love turned into a job with the City of Calgary Parks and Rec Department for 25 years. During her time with the city many of her colleagues became good friends. Myrna was a country girl at heart and had a passion for gardening. She also liked to travel/camp and had gone to many different places via planes, trains and automobiles not to mention several cruises, too many to count. Myrna could dress up with the best but her favourite attire was blue jeans or her gardening clothes. She wouldn’t mind it if you choose to wear jeans to her service. It would put a smile on her face. Myrna is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Henry. She is also survived by her children Debbie (Eric) Chapman and their children Michael (Diana), Taralyn and Kimberly of Edmonton, William (Cathy) Turner and William’s children Jordan (Brenda), Brad and Jessica and her children Ashlynn and Jacob, Lisa Turner and her daughters Taylor and Madison Robanske. She also leaves behind her closest friend/sister Marilyn Farand, her brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who all had a special place in her heart. Myrna was predeceased by her brother Reg, Grandmother Delia, her parents Winnie and Bill and special Aunt Mimi. Also predeceasing her were two grandchildren Jana Turner (William’s daughter) and Paul Chapman (Debbie’s son). Myrna loved flowers and they will be gratefully accepted at McInnis and Holloway or donations can be made to Haying in the 30’s Cancer Support Group Society, Box 35, Mallaig, Alberta, T0K 2K0.
