Obituary of Aloha June HILL

1927 – Gleichen, Alberta 2014 – Calgary, Alberta February 7, 2014 brought sadness to so many with the peaceful passing of Aloha June Hill in Calgary, AB. 1927 introduced the birth of Aloha Hill in Gleichen, AB. As a young lady, Aloha moving to Bowden, AB for the family business and school which lead her to that special school dance where she met her soon to be husband, Stan Hill. After Stan married the woman of his dreams, they moved to Calgary, AB to begin their lives together. Stan’s first job in Calgary was at the Chesney Hardware store, eventually moving into a sales role within the petroleum industry. Aloha happily assumed the role of a home maker, where in 1947 both were blessed with a baby girl, Trudy Lee Hill. After a few more years, 1956 brought the lovely family a baby boy, Dwayne Myles Hill. Because two wasn’t enough, Stan and Aloha took the next step in family development with a third child Linda Lee Hill in 1962. After the passing of Stan in 2008, Aloha started taking the step to be closer with her children and eventually moved to Calgary, AB, where she spent the remaining days as she wanted; being closer to her children. Aloha impacted so many people in her life in such a positive way, please take a moment to honor her incredible 86 years of life, as all her grandchildren have done below. Aloha is survived by her children, Dwayne & Cheryl Hill and Linda & David Cunningham; son-in-law Jim & Maxine Farrell; grandchildren, Brad & Malou Farrell, Kellee & Jason O’Donnell, Justin Vandenbossche & Christina Clark, Chris & Lacey Hill, Alicia Hill and Madison Cunningham; great-grandchildren, Kobe & Noah Farrell, Rowan Braun & Quinn O’Donnell, and Koen Hill. She was predeceased by her loving husband Stan Hill; her daughter Trudy Farrell; her sister Maxine Gerick; and her grandson Chad Hill. A Celebration of Aloha’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. She was a pillar of strength, a beacon of light and yet, so soft. She was kind and loving, compassionate and giving, spirited and opinionated and I love her with all my heart. She was never afraid to give her opinion, but she did it with love, grace and a smile. She loved deeply and with conviction…and for such a little woman, she had the biggest heart. She listened, she loved, she laughed and she was instrumental in the making of who I am today. She lost a daughter and her husband, in a very short time, and she stayed so strong for the rest of her family. I loved how it felt to hug her, I loved her smell, I loved her sound… she was my Gram and I will carry her with me, forever. Being an incredibly influential person in my life, I truly hope to spread as much kindness and compassion as my Grandmother did to each and every person she crossed paths with in her long life. She has touched so many people in a positive way, and I will never forget that. I could not have asked for a better grandmother and great Grandmother to my son Koen. I feel very privileged to have spent so much quality time with Gramma over the last few years. We really had a blast!! The family is truly going to miss you Gramma Love you always, Chris, Lacey & Koen You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have. Now that Grandma Hill has passed away, I understand that statement to its full extent. She was an amazing role model for being as strong as you could be at all times. She was and still is one of my best friends of who I could talk to about anything. From relationship advice to sports, no topic was off limits. You never needed to guess at what she was thinking because she would tell you outright what was on her mind. That was what I adored about her, she would tell you her opinion and stand behind it whether you liked it or not. Not many grandkids have the luxury of being that close with a grandparent and for that, I am so very grateful. I feel like a piece of my heart is missing now that she is gone, but I do have some relief knowing she is being greeted by Grandpa, Aunty Trudy and Aunty Monica. I love you so very much and will cherish all the memories we shared. You meant so much to me it’s hard to express in words… I miss you Grandma and hope one day I can be admired as much as you were and still are. -Alicia Hill Aloha Hill was more than a grandma to me. She was someone who I could talk to and she would always listen. She was more than just a person she was my hero. She helped me though all the tough times I had and she always gave me advice, on what to do. She was the most beautiful, amazing, and caring person I know. I will miss her forever. -Madison Cunningham
