Obituary of Edna Rita HUNT

1925 – Viscount, SK 2014 – Calgary, AB Our feisty Edna passed away with family by her side on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the age of 88 years. Edna was the widow of the late George L. Hunt and the sole survivor of the McNeill Clan of 11 children. She was always so proud of her McNeill family and many years ago compiled a 35 page book – The McNeill Family Tree. Mom grew up in Saskatoon and attended Nutana Collegiate where she met her beloved George. They were married in June 1945 and lived initially in Saskatoon, then Moose Jaw and Kingston before moving to Calgary in 1957. Mom and Dad were both hard workers, but their main focus was always family and friends. They especially enjoyed playing bridge, family holidays in Penticton, and in later years, 3 cruises. Mom’s love of gardening was lifelong and even in her final years she tended lovingly to the planters outside of the Colonel Belcher where she lived. Edna was employed by a number of firms, the earliest being St. Louis Hide and Fur and the final being the Carthy Foundation which is the philanthropic arm of the Mannix Corporation. Mom will be greatly missed by her many life long friends, along with her friends from the Dreamview Village and Colonel Belcher Seniors’ Residence where she resided over the past years. Edna is survived by her daughter Lee, son Fred, daughter-in-law Marg, granddaughter Julie and grandson Bradley (fiancée Deanna Hafner.) Also left to mourn are sisters-in-law Jean Halliday and Ruth (Lorne) Johnstone, along with numerous caring nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
