Obituary of Jeremiah Matthew CARLING

August 23, 1980 – Edmonton, AB January 24, 2014 – Calgary, AB It is with great sadness to announce that Jeremiah Matthew Carling of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Carewest Sarcee Hospice at the age of 33 years, with his family at his side, after an eight year courageous battle with brain cancer. Jeremiah was an exceptional man with a huge heart. Jeremiah loved to be with his family, as well as art, long walks, movies, camping, skateboarding, animals, the BC mountains, and cooking. He always did or said something to make someone laugh. Jeremiah was quiet, supportive, humble, loyal and loving. He always showed empathy for those around him – even complete strangers. Even at the height of his illness, Jeremiah continued to fight with true honesty and bravery. The cancer may have won over his body but never his gentle, humorous, and determined sprit. Jeremiah will be deeply missed by his grandmother Ina Paulson; mother Brenda Carling; step-dad Malcolm Halyk; sister Shannon (Shaye) Paulson; nephew Isaiah Anderson, and many friends and family both in Calgary and the British Columbia interior. Jeremiah’s family wishes to express a very special thank-you to Dr. Jay Easaw, Associate Professor in the Division of Medical Oncology at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Lisette Portelance, Community Care Coordinator, Home Care, Sheldon M Chuimr Health Centre, CBI compassionate care workers Istanbul and Sadie and all the staff at the Carewest Sarcee Hospice.
