Obituary of Arthur Harold FRITZ

FRITZ, Arthur Harold June 19, 1925 – Regina, SK January 9, 2014 – Didsbury, AB Arthur Harold Fritz beloved husband of the late Mary Angela Fritz, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the age of 88 years. Born in Regina, SK, and raised on a farm in Phone Hill, SK. Art joined the Royal Canadian Air Force when he was 19, while stationed in Gander, NFLD, he met the love of his life Angela. Married a short time later, Art and Angela had three children, Arlene, Shirley and Debra. In 1955, Art moved his family from Yorkton, SK, to Calgary, AB as he obtained a job with the Calgary Herald in the composing room. Seven years later Art moved his family to Airdrie where they lived for 33 years. Art had a great love of the outdoors. He spent at lot of time camping, fishing and hunting in the Kananaskis. He also had a soft heart for small animals and was often caught trying to save many injured birds and other small creatures. Art was an avid marksman and a member of the Airdrie Pistol Club. When Art retired from the Calgary Herald after 34 years of service, his love of electronics and army surplus kept him busy for many years as he continued his business “Arttz Electronics” from home. Art also enjoyed all kinds of music, especially the bag pipes. Art lived a very full and busy life but could always be counted on when needed, a well respected and loved man by all who had the opportunity of knowing him. His wise council will be greatly missed. He is survived by his daughters Arlene Kuzek of Airdrie, Shirley Fox of Airdrie, Debra Rushfeldt (Rod) of Nakusp, BC. Grandchildren Brad (Lynzee) Robinson of Campbell River, BC, Allan (Nicole) Robinson of Airdrie, Brett (Maureen) Fox of Sylvan Lake, Jan (Kurt) Ginther of Innisfail, Mark Fox of Airdrie, Angie (Tyler) Fox of Crossfield, and Avery Bremer of Nakusp, BC 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Arthur was predeceased by his loving wife Mary Angela Fritz (nee Fowler) on March 17, 2005; and his parents Katie Fritz and Emil Fritz. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
