Obituary of Kenneth W CROWSHAW

December 10, 2013 – Calgary Alberta
Ken Crowshaw passed away peacefully on December 10, 2013 at the age of 90 years. He was born in Port Alberni B.C. and spent most of his school years there. He enlisted and then joined the RCAF in 1942, proudly serving in WWII as a pilot and then promoted to Flying Instructor.
Ken had a long and successful career in the oil and gas industry becoming President of the Simmons Group of Companies. He was a respected and dedicated member of the CAODC and served on many governing committees.
Ken is survived by his children, Pat Drake (John), Barb Beary (Brian) and Dave (Maureen); also eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased in 2012 by Joan, his wife of 65 years. Ken and Joan loved to travel and enjoyed many trips to exotic places together.
Ken will be remembered for his deep love of family, positive attitude, smile, sense of humor, generosity, and integrity. Playing cards was a passion and happy hour was an important part of his day. Ken was a life-long learner and loved to pass his extensive knowledge onto the younger generations. He was a role model and mentor to many.
Ken led a very active life. He was a 50 year playing member of the Earl Grey Golf Club and shot his age at 83. He celebrated his 90th birthday by golfing with his children and experiencing a bobsled ride at COP with his grandchildren. His love of sports, including watching the Flames and Stampeders, was second to none.
Ken leaves a powerful legacy and will be greatly missed. There will be a private family celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken’s name can be made to The Military Museums of Calgary or a charity of choice.
