Obituary of William Alexander BROOKS

January 2, 1930 – Drumheller, AB December 5, 2013 – Calgary, AB The family of William (Bill) Brooks, and beloved husband of Lorraine Brooks of Calgary, regret to announce that a valiant heart stopped beating and Bill passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the age of 83 years. Bill was born in Drumheller and raised in the nearby hamlet of Nacmine where, as a young man, he worked with his father in the Nacmine mine. Bill eventually moved to Calgary and worked for Royalite Oil where he met the love of his life, Lorraine. They married and had a daughter, Dawn (Snookums to Bill). In the early 70’s Bill joined Delta Projects Ltd. and became a proud member of the Construction and Specialized Workers’ Union Local 1111. Bill became a General Foreman of the Labourers; and through Delta, worked at many jobsites for Shell Canada in particular, over his thirty-five year career, assisting in the construction of gas plants around the province. Bill was very well respected in the industry by his peers, and was always eager to share a story about the men that he worked with and regarded so highly. Besides his loving wife Lorraine, Bill is survived by his daughter Dawn Scott (David Kungl); and granddaughters that he was so very proud of and were his whole world, Delaine and Jaylene. He is also survived by his former son-in-law, Tony Scott, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was predeceased by his father William in 1970; sister Dorothy in 2002; and mother Marcella in 2003. At Bill’s request there will be no service.
