Obituary of Hazel Mary BOSWELL

September 14, 1929-Biggar, SK December 5, 2013 – Calgary, AB Hazel Mary Boswell beloved wife of Bill Boswell of Calgary , passed away peacefully at home with Dad by her side at 84 years of age. Mom and Dad recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 24 2013. This was Mom’s goal. Hazel is survived by her husband Bill, her 6 children Pat(Jayne), Rich(Anne), Pete(Brenda), Nancy (Doug), Francine (Phil) and Bill(Jenn), her 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson Gregory Boswell. One of 8 siblings, Hazel is also survived by her 2 remaining siblings, Eleanore Roberts and Nelson Saunders, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. A loving wife to her lifelong partner Bill, Hazel was also a caring mother, proud grandmother/great-grandmother, a loyal sibling and a trusted friend. She brought joy and comfort to those fortunate enough to have known her. Always willing to give the gift of time and a patient listener her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. A dedicated Catholic, mom sought compassion and tolerance for all and having raised 6 children one could say this was occasionally tested. Mom took everything in stride , her unconditional love was her gift to us all. Gratitude and understanding were her hallmarks and her strength was drawn from the many friendships she enjoyed over the years. Mom enjoyed a very special bond with her friend Terry Bailey who always remained at her side through many, many years. While the last few years of her life were marred by injury and illness Mom remained stoic to the end always smiling, laughing and ever so appreciative of the care givers who graciously tended to her. We all can learn from her grace and strength, admire her virtues and hope to gain wisdom from her subtle directions. We miss you Mom you will forever remain in our hearts. Our family will be forever grateful to the compassionate care given by Ning Griffith, as well as Jean Regel, and Jocelyn Monares. We would also like to thank Mom’s nurse Andrea O’Brien and the Palliative Care Team for their guidance and support.
