Obituary of Margaret ROBERTS

ROBERTS, Margaret (Margot) Alexa, (nee Herriott) August 29, 1923 – December 2, 2013 Our beloved Margot passed away peacefully at Sarcee Hospice at the age 90. She has joined her Lorne, her soulmate of 70 years. She is survived by her son Terry (Harvey Coyote), daughter Marcia Runge, daughter-in-law Lea Roberts, and grandchildren Scott (Naomi Herback), Barbara (Devin Wagner) and Alexandra (Christopher Duthie). She was predeceased by her loving husband Lorne, her son-in-law Bruce Runge, Marcia’s partner Brent Mitchell, and her parents Helen and Charles Herriott. Born and raised in Calgary, Margot graduated from Central High School. She was very proud to work at Porter Allen Millard law firm who encouraged her to travel to Quebec to be with Lorne during his flight training for WW2 duty. When Lorne returned from the war, they established their wonderful life together. They were loyal fans of the Calgary Stampeders and the Calgary Flames, and the St. Louis Cardinals. They enjoyed the symphony, especially the “Pops”, Theatre Calgary, and appreciated fine art and good music. In their later years, they resided at Staywell Manor and the family are so very grateful for the loving care and attention from all the staff. Margot loved unconditionally. Everyone who met her loved her. Her wonderful spirit and zest for life shone through every day. Her generosity of spirit was unmatched. She had a great deal of pride in family near and far, and always kept in touch. There was no animal she did not love, and many pets had the good fortune to be part of her life. A Celebration of Margot’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire contributions may be made to Carewest Sarcee Hospice, to whom the family are deeply grateful for their loving care, or the Calgary Humane Society.
