Obituary of VANDER VEEN

1939 – Harkema, Netherlands 2013 – Cochrane, Alberta Albert beloved husband of Hiltje “Hillie” Vander Veen (nee Van der Meer) of Cochrane, AB, passed away at home on December 4, 2013 at the age of 74 years. Albert immigrated to Canada from Holland as a young boy of 9 in 1948. His family settled and farmed in the Bottrel area. He met his love, Hillie, in Calgary and they married in 1965. Shortly after they moved to the farm, where he enjoyed a great life farming and raising their family and enjoying their grandchildren. He was an active member in the Bottrell community and had left behind many great friends and neighbours. Albert leaves behind wonderful memories with his loving wife of 48 years, Hillie; beloved son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Michelle; beloved daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Lyle; four wonderful grandchildren, Christoper, Jocelyn, Kesha and Kaylee, who were the joys of his life; his siblings, Ed (Gretha), Jess (Harriet), Lola (Steve), Winnie (Henk), John (Joanne), Greben (Charlene); sister-in-laws, Lee, Joanna and Corrie; Hillie’s siblings, Theunis, Frank, Marion, Darlene, Raink, Klaas, Marie, Frances, Marg, Sid and their families. He was predeceased by his brothers, Phil, Hank and Klaas; and in-laws, Hank, John, Jim, Simon and Kathy. A Celebration of Albert’s Life held at The Cochrane Ranchehouse (101 Ranchehouse Road, Cochrane, AB T4C 2K8), on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
