Obituary of Jean Irene ARENS

June 14, 1921 – Langdon, AB Dec 02, 2013 – Calgary, AB Jean, beloved wife of the late Arnold Arens of Calgary, AB, passed away at the age of 92 years. Jean was an army vet who worked in the hospital from 1942-1946. She married the love of her life on May 6, 1948. She worked for optometrists in Vancouver and Victoria before later working for the Department of Agriculture in both Calgary and Lethbridge. Jean and Arnold traveled to many exotic destinations during their retirement, and never saw the same place twice. They spent winters together with some of her siblings in Mesa, AZ for many years. The game show channel was her favorite addition over the last years, and she loved all kinds of desserts and sweets. Jean is survived by her son Kevin (Stuart) Arens of Vancouver, BC, and Betty McGurk of Calgary, AB; three grandchildren, Brian (Sara) Arens, Matthew (Kristin) McGurk, and Laura Tempeny; sister in law Anne Young, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her loving husband Arnold Arens and her daughter Charlotte Arens.
