Obituary of Maria Joao SILVEIRA

May 8, 1942 – Angra do Heroismo, Terceira, Acores November 15, 2013 – Calgary, AB Maria Joao Silveira, beloved wife of Alberto of Calgary, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2013 at the age of 71 years. Maria Joao was born on May 8, 1942 in Angra do Heroismo, Terceira, Acores and immigrated in Canada in September of 1978, where Calgary became her new home. Through this journey, she encountered the warmest hearts in which brought comfort to Maria and her family. A special thank you to the Tom Baker Unit 47, who were very supportive during a difficult time. Maria Joao is survived by her husband of thirty-five years, Alberto; son Joao and daughter in law Maria, daughter Isabel Botelho, and step-son Robert Silveira; five grandchildren Vanessa, Melissa, Brian, Jessica and Noah; and step-granddaughter Alyssa, and many nieces, nephews and extended family; brother and sister-in-law Fernando and Maria Cardoso. She was predeceased by her parents, Joao and Isabel Cardoso. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church (4747 – 30th Street S.E., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church (4747 – 30th Street S.E., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
