Obituary of Clarice Wyonne SOMERS

November 14, 1937 – Ryley, AB October 31, 2013 – Calgary, AB Wyonne Somers passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at the age of 75years. Wyonne was born November 14, 1937 in Ryley, AB to Joe and Clara Starie. She married Kenneth Gordon Somers on October 26, 1956 and they were married for over 50 years. They moved to Calgary and started their family of one girl and two boys. Wyonne was a dedicated wife, an exceptional mother and a very loving Nana. She loved her family and four granddaughters and was especially committed to raising her special needs son, Barry, who she supported in the Special Olympics. She was always active and athletic; she played fastball, skated, played ladies hockey and was an avid bowler for over 40 years. She supported all of her children and grandchildren in various sporting activities throughout every season and many different sports. Wyonne was also very active in her local community of Fairview where she was involved in fund raising through bingos, concessions and ladies groups. She loved bingo and was a familiar face at halls. She was a fun loving and social person who loved to help others. Wyonne lived life always focusing on the positives. She is survived by her daughter Terry Somers-Barnes and her husband Cliff Barnes, sons; Barry Somers and Dean Somers and daughter-in-law Debbie Somers, four grandchildren; Carmen (Steve) Pester, Breanne (Jay) Sinclair, Leah (Sean) Lavers and Samantha ‘Sami’ Somers. She is also survived by her sisters; Myrna Berggren and Sharon (Garry) Roose. Wyonne was predeceased by her husband Ken Somers in December of 2009. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.
