Obituary of Jack Gould PARTLOW
1939 – Grande Prairie, AB
2013 – Calgary, AB
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Jack Gould Partlow, of Calgary, AB. He passed away in his own home on October 19, 2013, at the age of 74.
Jack was born on April 10, 1939 in Grande Prairie, AB. He received his education at Percy School and the Grande Prairie Composite High School. While attending high school, he stayed at the Wapiti Lodge dormitory, making some dear lifelong friends. He lived most of his life on the family farm northwest of Grande Prairie, taking over the operation when his father died in 1963. It was a challenge, but he persevered, and was very successful. In 1964, he and Melva Swanson were married. They were blessed with two lovely daughters, Nancy and Kathy.
Jack and Melva retired, and in 2002 moved to Calgary to be closer to family. Jack enjoyed living close to his daughters and grandchildren, but he loved returning to Grande Prairie, never forgetting friends and the farm life there.
In his younger years, Jack enjoyed hunting, curling and fishing. As he got older and his health declined, he liked following trends in both the stock market and real estate.
Jack worked hard, but spending time with family and friends was his greatest pleasure. He loved to laugh, joke and tell stories. Jack was trustworthy and kind to all. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Surviving Jack are his loving wife of 49 years, Melva; daughter Nancy and her husband, James Levy of Calgary, AB; daughter, Kathy and her husband, Jim Scott of Calgary, AB; six precious grandchildren, Andy Crocq, Taylor, Jack and Madison Levy, Kyle and Dylan Scott, all of Calgary. Also, surviving Jack is his aunt, Gladys Peterson of Edmonton and many friends.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Harriet Partlow, as well as his sister, Margaret Stevenson.
Honoring Jack’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Association in Jack’s memory.
In living memory of Jack Partlow, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park Cochrane by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot Chapel, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. CALGARY, AB. Telephone: (403) 241-0044.
