MERKEL, Cletus Bernard December 2, 1916 – Dubois, Indiana, USA October 7, 2013 – Airdrie, AB Cletus B. Merkel passed away with his loving family by his side on Monday, October 7, 2013 at the age of 96 years. Cletus was born on December 2, 1916 in Dubois, Indiana and worked as a farmer and a carpenter. Cletus Merkel is survived by his daughter Terry; son Brooke; grandchildren Lorie (Peter), Kathy, Gordon, Teresa, Tracy, Coleen (Ron), Todd (Chelsea), Michelle (Darin), Kris, Kyle, Kari; as well as many great grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cletus Merkel was predeceased by his loving wife Genevieve, and his daughter Merilyn. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Airdrie Funeral Home (300 Towerlane Drive, Airdrie) on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 2p.m. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Bethany Care Centre in Airdrie, Alberta for their support in his final days.
