Obituary of Audrie M. R.N. RANKIN

1924 – Toronto, ON 2013 – Calgary, AB Audrie, loving wife of Harry Rankin of Calgary, AB, passed away on the 20th of September, 2013 at the age of 89 years. Audrie grew up in Toronto and after graduating from NTCI in 1941 she worked at Victory Aircraft; where she wired Anson training aircraft as well as the Canadian built Lancaster bomber. In 1943 she began her nurses training and as part of the September class of 1946, left Wellesley Hospital as an R.N. She met Harry in 1948 and they got married in 1950. In 1956 they moved to Port Alberni on Vancouver Island; where they raised a family and built a cottage at Sproat Lake. Through all the years, and some moves, the cottage remained a constant where all the family spent quality time over the past 50 years. Audrie was able to spend a wonderful month there before going to the hospital. Audrie also enjoyed her time on the golf course. She and Harry had many good times playing at Port Alberni and Seymour in North Vancouver. After moving to Calgary in 1999, she took pleasure in family gatherings and watching her grandchildren grow up into young adults. Audrie truly represents “the generation that survived the depression, won the war and re-invented Canada.” She will be lovingly remembered by Harry, her husband of 63 years; her sons and daughters-in-law, John and his wife Rene and Jeff and his wife Kay; her daughter Shelley; her many grandchildren; her sister Grace and brothers, John and Don in Ontario. She was predeceased by Jean and Chuck.
