Obituary of Edwin A. OMAN

August 31, 1930– Clanwilliam, MB September 19, 2013– Calgary, AB Edwin “Ed” Oman, beloved husband of Liz Oman, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013 one month after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Until this time, Ed enjoyed a full and healthy life for which he was always grateful. He loved and was loved. As a Pastor, City Alderman and Provincial MLA, Ed was a faithful servant, touching many people through his contributions. When not working hard, he devoured books and played competitive sports like baseball and curling. Music was one of Ed’s passions – he was a musician, choir singer and director and season ticket holder to the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. Memories of moments shared with Ed will remain in the hearts of family and friends who were blessed by his life. The youngest of nine children, Ed is survived by his sister Eunice Johnson. He was a loving father to children Beverly, Barb, Judy, Joyce and Jeff, along with nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was also a solid friend and mentor to his step-son and step-daughter. A Memorial Service will be held at Bonavista Evangelical Missionary Church (1509 Lake Ontario Drive S.E.) on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. to honour this remarkable man.
