Obituary of Stephen Wayne SINGER

Stephen Wayne Singer was born a third generation Albertan on November 26, 1950 (62 years) and passed away on September 12, 2013 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Stephen is survived by his brother Alan, fiancée Gina Dawson, son Adam and daughters Quinn and Carly. He was predeceased by his father Jack and mother Shirley (Cohen). Stephen attended Beverly Hills High and Chadwick School in Los Angeles and studied at the University of Calgary. Following university he opened the iconic and original Moose Factory in 1975, a restaurant and lounge with style and taste unique to Calgary at the time and set the standard for many restaurants to follow. Stephen went on to work in the family real estate business, United Management. He also partnered with his brother Alan in Alsten Holdings and Hollywood Center Studios in Los Angeles. Stephen along with Alan, made a major donation to the Jack Singer Concert Hall in honour of their father. Nothing was more important to Stephen than his family and friends. He was a great father. He spent every spare moment interacting in every aspect of his children’s lives. He took great interest in their development and always stressed the importance of furthering their education. He was a great friend. His friendships were based upon loyalty and trust. Once a friend, always a friend. In his later years, Stephen was wholly committed to a healthy lifestyle of fitness and nutrition. His second family at INLIV Full Circle Health will miss him. Funeral services will be held at Beth Tzedec Synagogue (1325 Glenmore Trail S.W.) on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a burial at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
