Obituary of Shirley Maxine CLARK

May 16, 1932 – Brandon, Manitoba July 20, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta Shirley Maxine Clark, also known as Maxine, Grannie and Auntie Mac was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Maxine died peacefully on Saturday, July 20th, 2019 surrounded by family at Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. Maxine was born May 16, 1932 in Brandon, Manitoba to Charles Leroy and Pearl Agnes (Churchill) Curle. She grew up on a farm near Brandon and attended the Village of Justice school. She left home at eighteen, where she made her way to work at the Banff Springs Hotel. Maxine had various occupations from Legal secretary, to the Alberta Amateur Hockey Association, she was an integral part of the Special Olympics. She was especially devoted to her sisters, people often referred to the four as “The Golden Girls”. One of their last treasured memories together were at the 100th Anniversary of the Township of Justice, where they all rode in a horse and buggy of the time. She loved to tell her fond memories; the cabin at Clear Lake, the Rocky Mountains of Banff, the Stampede in Calgary, and the Gulf Shores of Texas. For over fifty years, “Grannie” enjoyed sports, spending many hours in the bleachers between her children and her grandchildren. “All of us have crossed paths with Maxine, in her precious laughter… for she was mostly funny! Kindness always was her motto…She was a world with no fences.” Maxine is survived by her son Lindsay Clark and wife Cindy, daughter Lisa Clark-Guedry; grandchildren, Matthew Clark and wife Heather, Brandon Clark, Jordan Guedry and Ryan Guedry; great-grandchildren Charlotte and Justin Clark. Well known as Auntie Mac, she had numerous nieces and nephews along with many great-nieces and nephews; as well as a host of lifelong and dear friends. Maxine had a very special and endearing friend Bobbi Joan O’Neil. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Pearl Curle; brother Charles Curle (Helga); sisters, Doris Scarrow, (Jim), Phyllis Bray (Jack), Marjorie Merner (Addison). In lieu of a funeral, Maxine has requested her ashes be spread over her parent’s gravesite in historic Humesville cemetery, Manitoba. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
