McGARVEY, Ruth (nee Leoppky) August 5, 1930 – Cudworth, SK August 17, 2013 – Calgary, AB Our cherished mother, Ruth Ann McGarvey of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the age of 83 years. Ruth held several managerial positions with various organizations in Calgary, including United Cigar Stores, Laura Secord, and the City of Calgary. In addition, she enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a very hard worker, with a strong dedication to her family. Her wisdom and guidance will be dearly missed. God saw you getting tired, The cure was not to be, So he closed his arms around you And whispered “come with me”. You suffered much in silence, Your spirit did not bend You faced your pain with courage, Until the very end. You tried so hard to stay with us, Your fight was all in vain. God took you to his loving home, And freed you from all the pain. If love could have saved you, You never would have died. Mom, we will always love you and will forever miss you. Ruth is survived by her loving children; son Darren McGarvey; and daughter Shelley (Roger) Grossi, both of Calgary, AB. She was predeceased by her parents Anna (Baba) and Henry (Guido) Leoppky; along with nine brothers and six sisters. At mom’s request, a private family service will be held.
