Obituary of Jennie Joyce EVANS

February 9, 1928 – Lousana, AB August 1, 2013 – Calgary, AB Joyce Evans of Calgary passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the age of 85 years. Joyce grew up in Lousana, Alberta during the “dirty thirties,” a time when nothing was wasted or taken for granted. Very musically inclined, she was a talented piano player and traveled with other musicians all over central Alberta playing for community dances. She was always active in her church, and worked as secretary at St. Giles Presbyterian from 1970 to 1982. Joyce had a passion for life, and was a loving mother who gave of herself to her family, friends, church and community. She and her husband Don were honoured to be among the first six lifetime members of Thorncliffe-Greenview Community Association in Calgary. Joyce is survived by her children, Larry (Kathy), Daryl (Gloria), Janet (Mike) McGillvrey, Greg, and Rod (Cindy); her sister Gracie; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. She was a wonderful grandma to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a favourite aunt to many nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by her beloved husband Donald in 2010. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
