Obituary of Carmela MINARDI

MINARDI, Carmela (nee Spadafora) 1920 – Santo Stefano, Italy 2013 – Calgary, Alberta It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Carmela Minardi of Calgary, AB on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the age of 93 years. Carmela was born in Santo Stefano, Rogliano, Cosenza, Italy on March 27, 1920. She immigrated to Canada in 1962 with her husband and five children. Carmela was an exceptional mother, always putting her family first. Carmela was a hard working and determined person. She will be remembered as a kind hearted, lively, gracious and considerate person. We will miss her greatly. Carmela is survived by two sons and three daughters, Silvio (Maria) Minardi, Domenico (Lina) Minardi, Maria (Frank) Mosca, Gina (Aldo) DeGiorgis and Anna (Paul) Tremblay, fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren with another arriving soon. She was predeceased by her husband Guglielmo on January 30, 1980, her son Mario Minardi in 1945, her parents Domenico and Chiara Spadafora, two brothers Francesco Spadafora, Pasquale Spadafora, and a sister Chichina Porco. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, August 5, 2013 at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Parish (formerly Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church) (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
