Obituary of Darlene Beverly LAMBE

LAMBE, Darlene Beverly (nee Boraas) July 29, 1945 – Madison, MN July 26, 2013 – Calgary, AB In the presence of her loving family, Darlene Lambe passed away peacefully on Friday, July 26, 2013 with the same grace, dignity, and courage which she lived. Darlene grew up on a farm near Madison, Minnesota where her father still lives to this day. She grew up with the sense of community that comes from having a large and loving family with nine uncles and four aunts. Darlene went on to train as a kindergarten teacher at the University of Moorhead where she would meet her husband Byron, of forty-five years. As a teacher Mrs. Lambe provided her students the same love, gentle kindness and excitement for the world that she would go on to share with her own children and grandchildren. Darlene took ten years off from teaching to stay home as a mom but outside of that served and loved her kindergarten children at Moorhead, Bearspaw and Calgary for thirty years. Over the years, Darlene spent many happy summers at Sylvan Lake treasuring her time spent with children and grandchildren. It was during this time that Darlene came to be known as “Magra” to her grandchildren, a tradition that lives on to this day. It was her deep and abiding love for her grandchildren that gave her the will to maintain her love of life through a six-year battle with cancer that would include five difficult surgeries and countless treatments. Darlene is survived by her loving husband Byron; three adoring sons, Ryan, Jonathan (Sarah), and Eric; and six much loved grandchildren, Myla, Max, Miller, Marcus, Georgia, and Svea. She is also survived by her father Beaumont Boraas; brother Berdell Boraas; sister Ruth Schmitz; and countless friends. Darlene was predeceased by her mother Delores Boraas (nee Storlien) and step-mother Dianne Boraas (nee Martin).
