I am shocked and saddened to hear of Carla’s passing. We worked together at Paws on Elbow/Heritage in the early 1990’s, and I had always enjoyed spending that time with her. Her confident, no-nonsense manner and thorough knowledge left a big impression on me, and I have thought of her many times throughout the years. I had a Basenji at the time, and we always had a friendly competition about which was the better breed. I was planning on contacting her in the next few months to “show me the ropes” in lure coursing with my new Basenji. I am very sorry for your loss, and my thoughts are with you all.

I am saddened to learn of Carla’s death. Our first encounter occurred at an obedience class over 30 years ago when I had a Doberman and she had a most clever Whippet who jumped into her arms with no effort. Ages later Carla and I laughed so much because I told her about this incident and described the dog but had no idea who the handler was until she told me that it was her. A very special person!!!

I got to know Carla when she worked for Eukanuba here in Ontario, and became further acquainted with her in Abbotsford BC at the National Whippet Club of Canada specialty in 2010, where we shared a friendly rivalry for the Best of Breed competition. All was forgiven when we went out for dinner afterwards and had a great time together with lots of laughs. I am greatly saddened to learn of her untimely passing, and I know she will be missed by many for her knowledge of whippets. My heartfelt condolences to Susan, Mark and your families.
