Obituary of Ronald James DANCER

1928- Unity, Saskatchewan 2013 – Calgary, Alberta Ronald James Dancer passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the age of 84 years. Ron came to Calgary in 1950 and trained at SAIT to become a journeyman carpenter. Soon after, he went to work for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, where he had a long and successful career finishing as the Board Member for the 10th District. Through his work, he travelled far and wide, from small towns across the West and the North to Washington D.C. He was a founding member of The Calgary Winter Club, where he enjoyed curling and met his future wife Clara, whom he was married to for 37 years. He was a founder and lifelong member of the Northmount Baptist Church. Upon retirement, he and Clara had many years of enjoyment with their antique business. Ron was well loved wherever he went, and will be remembered for his wit and humor. Ron leaves to mourn his brother George; daughter Carole (Derek) Yorke; sons Blair (Michele) and Brent (Gayle); three grandchildren Teresa (Graham) Hunt, Justin and Alison Yorke; great granddaughter Isla; nieces and nephews Gordie (Birdie), Sharon (Gerry), Marilyn, Audrey, Cindy, and many friends. Ron was predeceased by his wife Clara, and his brother Arnold. Family and friends are welcome to attend funeral services at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 2:30p.m. The family wishes to express our sincere thanks to the staff of the Fanning Centre, the Bethany Care Centre, the Foothills Hospital Emergency and Unit 36 staff for the compassionate care they gave Ron.
